The new link will operate six times per week from Edinburgh Airport and fares go on sale today (7 February) starting from £31.49 one way*.
The additional flights mean easyJet now provide over 10,000 seats per day between London and Scotland – more than any other airline. The new route will provide business travellers with fast access to Stratford and east London as well as attracting new leisure travellers from Essex and the south east.
Hugh Aitken, Head of Scotland for easyJet, said:
"From May easyJet will introduce the first direct flight between Scotland and London Southend. The new link will provide greater flexibility for business travellers as they can now choose between Edinburgh and four different London airports covering all main access points to the city."
In March easyJet will add a seventh aircraft to Edinburgh Airport and launch new routes to Reykjavik, Hamburg, Berlin, Copenhagen, Prague and Dubrovnik. They currently operate London flights from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness.
Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:

Hugh adds, "The new route will create 100,000 additional seats between Edinburgh and London to make travelling between the capital cities even easier."
