Michel Potvin, President of Esterline Avionics Systems, said: “I am very pleased that we continue to enhance our cooperation with Honeywell by supporting this CRT to LCD conversion. The CMA-6800 is the perfect solution for ED-800 replacements, providing a cost-effective solution to address obsolescence issues and extend the life of existing cockpits. Our CMA-6800 LCD solution also provides a substantial increase in reliability and weight savings, reducing aircraft operating and maintenance costs. We are excited to see the growing market interest in our innovative display solutions.”
Based on an Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD), the CMA-6800 is a Form, Fit and Functional (FFF) replacement for Honeywell ED-800 Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays. It can replace the existing CRT without any kit or modification as it has the same physical dimensions, uses the same aircraft interfaces, and is mounted to the existing instrument panel rack in the same way as the ED-800. Approved for installation on more than ten (10) aircraft types and by multiple certification agencies including Transport Canada, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the CMA-6800 has been deployed on approximately 70 aircraft where it is demonstrating superior in-service reliability.
