High blood pressure runs in my family. I am in my mid-twenties and doctors (including my CAME) have remarked my blood pressure reading is a little high (part of this may be white coat syndrome... I immediately get nervous when they take my blood pressure).

I am currently in the pool for Nav Canada and hold a Cat 1 medical. Transport Canada's online description indicates high blood pressure medication is not necessarily disqualifying, but I am concerned that Nav Canada may have a different internal policy.

Anyone have experience with high blood pressure at Nav Canada? Should I be worried about it possibly jeopardizing my career in the future, should I be selected for ATC?

Thanks for any help.

NavCanada has no policy, internal or otherwise, WRT medical issues. That is between you and the CAME/RAMO. A valid CAT2 medical is required to start training. So long as you can obtain and keep a valid medical you're good to go. Your high blood pressure isn't something NavCanada will ever know about unless/until it prevents you from obtaining a medical.
