Public Safety Minister commends CBSA on significant seizure of cocaine at Pearson International |

MISSISSAUGA, ON - Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at Pearson International Airport seized approximately 150 kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $19 million, in two separate and unrelated drug seizures last month.
"I commend the CBSA officers involved in this significant seizure of illicit drugs," said the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety. "The smuggling of drugs across our border fuels organized crime in Canada. We are committed to giving law enforcement the tools they need to make our communities safe. This serves as another example that our efforts are working."

John will replace Mr. Dan Mills. Mr. Mills is retiring to spend more time with his family and pursue other personal interests. Mr. Mills is one of the founding principals of Cargojet and recently was the Executive Vice President Corporate Governance and the held the CFO position from Cargojet's inception.

Air Canada is resuming scheduled service to Santiago, Chile, following the re-opening of Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport (SCL) to commercial operations. Air Canada's five times weekly service to Santiago, via Buenos Aires, Argentina, resumes Thursday March 4, 2010. Service to Santiago, Chile was suspended February 27, 2010 following the closure of the airport to commercial flights as a result of the earthquake in the region.

Mr Smit, the pilot tragically killed in yesterday’s crash near Courtenay may not have had his aircraft correctly registered.
Mr Smit who constructed the plane himself from wood and fabric almost 8 months ago, may have registered the plane as an ultra-light instead of amateur built plane. |

The report of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada which was released on the 3rd March 2010, confirms that the fatal crash of a float plane in 2008 was triggered by a stall in midair.
The crash on the 3rd August 2008, involving a Pacific Airlines Grumman G-21A Goose, near Alice Lake, was carrying employees of Seaspan International, the pilot and 4 passengers were confirmed dead at the scene, while 2 survivors were left injured.
