The clock is ticking on oil companies operating offshore Newfoundland and Labrador to tell the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board their plans for search and rescue services. Inquiry Commissioner Robert Wells released early recommendations last week, seeking a dedicated, full-time search and rescue helicopter based in St. John's with a quicker response time than the current one hour wheels-up.
