Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. wishes to congratulate President & CEO, Barry Rempel on receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal. The medal was presented February 6, 2012 by the Honourable Philip S. Lee, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, at the Manitoba Legislative Building.

The medal commemorates the 60th anniversary of accession to the throne of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as Queen of Canada, and pays homage to her six decades of service and commitment to our country.

Made at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa, the Diamond Jubilee medals are awarded to deserving Canadians in recognition of their contributions to Canada or to a particular province, territory or community.

“On behalf of the Winnipeg Airports Authority Board of Directors, I congratulate Barry on this outstanding achievement,” said Board Chair, Tom Bryk. “Barry is deserving of this honour as he has long been dedicated to leading transportation innovation and growth, improving connectivity to and from our province.”

Winnipeg Airports Authority is a non-share capital corporation responsible for the management and operation of Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport and affiliate businesses. WAA is self sufficient with taxpayers not directly involved in financing airport site redevelopment which is being paid through Airport Improvement Fees (AIF).

Winnipeg Airports Authority serves our region by providing value to our customers and community. A source of pride for our community, we strive to be a leader in its growth and development.
