WestJet and WestJet Vacations team up to give away free flights and cold hard cash

WestJet Airlines today announced details of its second national Fly Free Contest with selected newspapers across Canada, offering readers the opportunity to win free flights and put some extra cash in their pockets.

"We received such incredible feedback about the contest last year that there was no question we would do it again," said Lauri Feser, WestJet's Vice-President, Marketing. "We are giving away 60 grand prize travel packages across Canada for free! All you have to do is pick up your local newspaper in one of the 10 cities in which the contest is running, or play online, and you could win - it's that easy!"

Fly Free is a six-week newspaper contest running from September 18 to October 29, 2009. Readers of participating newspapers can collect daily game pieces from their paper to attach to a game board, or play online. At the end of each week, readers submit the completed game board for a chance to win one of six weekly travel prizes with WestJet or WestJet Vacations, with $750,000 dollars in prizing to be won. There is a new chance to win each week of the contest.

Participating newspapers include the Halifax Chronicle Herald, the Ottawa Citizen, the Montreal Gazette, the Toronto Star, the Winnipeg Free Press, the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, the Regina Leader-Post, the Calgary Herald, the Edmonton Journal and the Vancouver Sun.

This year, Fly Free winners will have more destinations to choose from than ever before. In July, WestJet announced non-stop service to 11 new destinations for the winter of 2009-2010, including Varadero, Holguin and Cayo Coco, Cuba; Ixtapa and Cozumel, Mexico; St. Martin; Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; Freeport, Bahamas; Lihue (Kauai), Hawaii; Miami, Florida; and Atlantic City, New Jersey.
