There were no injuries after a small plane crashed at the Rockcliffe Airport on Wednesday afternoon. John Mackie, who was piloting the 1961 Piper Comanche, attempted to glide his plane for a landing, but ended up short and skidded across Marina road before crashing into a fence. The plane was on the first flight after receiving a $20,000 paint job. Sgt. Leslie Jutasi said he was amazed that the pilot, who is 44 or 45 years old, was unhurt. “As far as I’m concerned, it was a miracle,” he said. The Transportation Safety Board said Thursday it will not investigate the minor collision. |

Please correct the info on this posting. The plane was a Comanche not a Cherokee. The general media got it wrong, I don't expect that an aviation site would get it wrong (especially since we've already got a thread going on this mishap). Terry |
