Ottawa – Preparing for air travel just got easier today with the launch of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority's (CATSA's) new Web site at www.catsa.gc.ca. Built to respond to the passengers’ need for easy to find information, the newly redesigned site features better search capabilities, multimedia tools such as video clips, and a mobile version for those in transit.
“Travellers who are better informed are more likely to move through the screening process more efficiently...Our new website is designed with air passengers in mind so they know what to expect during screening, including what can and cannot be packed in their carry-on and checked baggage.” Kevin McGarr, President and CEO, CATSA
One of the most unique features is the addition of a mobile site so travellers with mobile devices can consult the Pack Smart list, watch videos and access the latest information from CATSA while on the go.
On the main site, users can now find specific information and tips for personal or business travellers, seniors and those with special needs. It also offers a Pack Smart section, where item restrictions can be researched, and a new Prep & Fly feature that allows travellers to create a personalized “To Do” list for home and travel preparation. The list can be printed off or e-mailed to the user once it's complete.
With 80% of travellers indicating that the Internet is a good way to reach them, CATSA has seized the opportunity to keep passengers up to date on issues such as current regulations, new screening processes and technology, and tips that can improve their air travel experience.
Other new additions include an “Add This” tool, so users can share news with other travellers in their group or with friends and family through social media Web site links, and RSS feeds to help keep travellers current.
With its new site, CATSA aims to provide a wealth of user-friendly information that can improve the travel experience for air passengers while contributing to its ongoing commitment to provide effective and efficient screening services.
