Ottawa- On August 28 and 29, 2010, the Classic Air Rallye marks its fifth season as “one of the best little air events in Canada” with a salute to the Westland Lysander, a useful and reliable aircraft famously known for flying secret agents in and out of occupied Europe under cover of darkness during the Second World War.
For the first time in twenty years anywhere in the world, three of these aircraft will come together. Vintage Wings of Canada’s silver doped Lysander from Gatineau, Quebec, and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s target-tug striped version from Hamilton, Ontario, will both be flown into Rockcliffe Airport. The third example is of course the camouflaged Lysander from the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. This is an event not to be missed!
August 28 and 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join us at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum for this aeronautical spectacle, right in the national capital! Two-day admission to the event (includes Museum admission) is $20 for adults, $15 for Members of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation, free for accompanied children under 12. Free Parking.
All flying operations are subject to mechanical and operational requirements and weather. Up-to-date news and information is available on the Classic Air Rallye’s website: www.flightworks.ca.
