19 WING COMOX, B.C.- The crews of an RCAF Cormorant helicopter and Canadian Coast Guard ship worked together early Sunday morning, March 10th, to evacuate an injured beachcomber from rocks near Side Bay, just north of Brooks Peninsula, in Quatsino Sound.

After traveling two days from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, to Cochrane, Ontario, the crew of the classic yellow CC-138 Twin Otter touched down briefly at the Cochrane Airport on February 13, 2013. There they picked up military personnel to transport them 300 kilometres north to Moosonee, Ontario, for Exercise Trillium Response.

The Government of Canada announced Thursday that it will extend its support of France's mission in Mali for an additional month. At the request of the French Government in early January, the Canadian Armed Forces contributed a Royal Canadian Air Force CC-177 Globemaster III strategic airlift aircraft in support of Operation Serval, the French mission in Mali, and will continue to provide this support until March 15.
