NAV CANADA has initiated the Local Area Knowledge Project as part of the implementation plan for Flight Information Centres across Canada. Initially, the information was collected for internal training purposes but due to customer requests, the documents are now available to all.

Local Area Knowledge Manuals are separated into 6 graphic forecast areas and divided in chapters, with descriptions that include local weather effects, specific geographical formations and terrain, and unpublished approaches.
