These terms include the ending of the strike while both Parties continue to work with the Federal Mediator to identify and resolve the few outstanding issues and then to submit any unresolved issues to Arbitration. This agreement ends a strike that began last February 13, 2012.
Spokespersons for each side, FIAA CEO David Innes and Jeannie Baldwin PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President for the Atlantic expressed relief that the dispute has now been resolved, and both say it is time to move on.
Innes says "it was unfortunate that the strike dragged on as long as it did, but there were a lot of issues that needed to be resolved". He added "we believe that working with the union, we have ended up with a better, more efficient organization that will serve all of us better as we move into the future."
Baldwin states that "with this settlement of the Return To Work Protocol we look forward to the members return to work and that all levels of the PSAC, including UCTE and Local 60601, will work on building a positive working relationship going forward."
With the Return To Work Protocol now worked out, employees will be back to work by Thursday, October, 18, 2012.
