This award recognizes Bombardier’s commitment to offering customers access to the most highly skilled workforce through an extensive training program. For more than a decade, Bombardier’s service centres have consistently earned the Diamond Award of Excellence, spearheaded by the Hartford facility’s 14 consecutive awards. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sponsors the award, which is presented annually to U.S.-based AMT employers that take a proactive role in training 100 per cent of their technical workforce.
“Continually developing our team is an essential part of building valuable relationships between OEM-trained technicians and our operators,” said Stan Younger, Vice President, Aircraft Service Centres, Bombardier Customer Services. “Building robust expertise across our network enables our team to help our customer community better evaluate how they operate and maintain their aircraft to drive value, reduce costs and improve the overall ownership experience of Bombardier aircraft.”
Bombardier employs over 2,000 people at its eight service centres in the U.S. – which each received the AMT Diamond Award of Excellence based on the initial and recurrent training completed by their eligible employees in 2012.
This year, five team members, from Fort Lauderdale, Wichita, Hartford and Tucson, were also recognized with the highest individual honour – the Gold award. Earning this award requires a minimum of 80 hours of eligible aviation maintenance training, as well as satisfactory completion of a college-level course of three credit hours or 40 classroom hours in Mathematics, English, Science, Aviation Safety, Human Factors, Management, Quality Control or similar aviation career-related courses.
In addition to the company’s eight wholly owned service centres in the U.S. and one at Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Bombardier’s business and commercial aircraft customers have access to a broad network of more than 60 Authorized Service Facilities.
