Major-General Pierre St-Amand, Commander 1 Canadian Air Division, presented ninety-three Canadian Forces members from the Winnipeg area the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Operation Unified Protector-Libya Medal at a parade in Building 21, 17 Wing Winnipeg, on 16 November, 2012.

The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, along with the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada, has announced the creation of the Memorial Ribbon. The Memorial Ribbon will be offered to close family and friends of deceased Canadian Forces (CF) members as a memento of personal loss and sacrifice.

At a ceremony in London, U.K., Canadian Forces (CF) search and rescue (SAR) personnel received the Award of Gallantry from the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators for their heroic actions in saving the lives of two Inuit hunters stranded in icy waters near Igloolik, Nunavut, on October 27, 2011.

More than 1,000 personnel from Canada and the United States will be participating in a Task Group Exercise (TGEX) from October 9 to 22 off the West Coast of Vancouver Island. TGEX’s are designed to build and strengthen interoperability and effectiveness between Canada’s three military services and our allies.
