Eurocopter marked a major development for Brazil’s aeronautical industry yesterday with the inauguration of its Helibras subsidiary’s new rotary-wing center of excellence in Itajubá, Minas Gerais, where Brazilian Armed Forces EC725 helicopters will be assembled.
EADS North America has begun its voluntary flight demonstration (VFD) for the Army’s Armed Aerial Scout helicopter program, flying two aircraft at a high-altitude test site for a series of demonstrations that will showcase the superior performance of the company’s AAS-72X+ offering.
Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company (NYSE: TXT), has announced its participation in the seventh annual Jet Expo in Moscow, held September 27-29 at Vnukovo-3 Business Aviation Terminal. Bell Helicopter will have a strong presence as an exhibitor, with a Bell 429 in corporate configuration on static display.
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) and AgustaWestland (AW), a Finmeccanica company (FNC IM, SIFI.MI), announced that they have signed a comprehensive teaming agreement to respond to anticipated requests for both the new U.S. Air Force Combat Rescue Helicopter and the U.S. Navy's recently announced program to develop a new "Marine One" presidential helicopter. A U.S.-built helicopter based on the AW101 platform will be offered by Northrop Grumman to meet these requirements.
The pivotal role played by Eurocopter helicopters in Africa in homeland security, law enforcement, rescue missions and military support will be highlighted at the upcoming AAD Airshow, to be held in Pretoria, South Africa on September 19-23. To demonstrate the versatility of its range of aircraft, Eurocopter will present an EC130, an EC145 and an AS350B3 at the EADS static display (chalets 1 to 4), in addition to two 1:10 scale models of the EC725 and AS565 MB.

Sikorsky Aircraft, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), is planning this month to deliver the final two of 15 UH-60M BLACK HAWK helicopters to the U.S. Army for further transfer to the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV). All 15 aircraft will have been delivered in just 16 months, a record acquisition pace for a squadron-sized fleet of Black Hawk helicopters procured via the U.S. Government’s Foreign Military Sales program.
Today, at an event during the ILA Berlin Airshow 2012, American Eurocopter announced that Med-Trans Corporation, an industry leading air medical provider, has signed an agreement to purchase up to 16 EC135® helicopters. The order includes 10 firm bookings and options for an additional six helicopters. The new EC135s will help Med-Trans sustain its market growth and expansion.
Today, at the ILA Berlin Airshow 2012, American Eurocopter announced that EagleMed LLC, one of the oldest and most experienced air medical transport service providers in the Midwest United States, has purchased an AS350® B2 and an AS350 B3. The aircraft will join EagleMed’s all-Eurocopter rotor wing fleet and will be utilized to service growth opportunities within the company’s eight-state service area.
A significant milestone in Eurocopter’s Tiger support helicopter program has been reached following the delivery of the first four helicopters to be upgraded for deployment to Afghanistan. This now leaves the German Army in possession of a complete batch of ASGARD helicopters – a vital prerequisite if the Tiger is to be deployed in theater by the end of the year.
