NORAD exercise planned for Washington, D.C.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command and its geographical component, the Continental United States NORAD Region, will conduct exercise Falcon Virgo 13-01 beginning Monday, Oct. 15, at midnight into early Tuesday morning, Oct. 16, in the National Capital Region, Washington, D.C.

New NORAD Canadian Deputy Commander

Lieutenant-General Alain Parent became the new Deputy Commander of NORAD during a Change of Office ceremony presided over by General Charles H. Jacoby, Jr., Commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command today at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.

CAE today announced that it has won a series of military contracts valued at more than C$55 million. They include a contract from Airbus Military to develop a C295 full-flight simulator (FFS) for the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), a contract from BAE Systems to provide maintenance and support services for the Indian Air Force’s Hawk training devices, and contracts from the UK Ministry of Defence to upgrade C-130J and Lynx simulators.

Exercise Rim of the Pacific 2012 (Ex RIMPAC) launched one of the biggest maritime exercises this June in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii.

Operating out of the historic Hickam Air Force Base—where the attack on Pearl Harbor made history more than 60 years ago—the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) demonstrated its interoperability capability with the 22 allied nations participating in the exercise by providing air-to-air refuelling (AAR) support.
