The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team of investigators to the site of an accident involving a Beechcraft Duchess aircraft 2 miles west of the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, Ontario. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.

The TSB is an independent agency that advances transportation safety by investigating occurrences in the marine, pipeline, rail and air modes of transportation. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.

The Board of Directors of the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport Authority (OMCIAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark B. Laroche as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).  Mr. Laroche will formally assume his new role on March 1st, following the retirement of Paul Benoit, who has held the position for the past sixteen years.

For the first time, a Royal Canadian Air Force officer has won the Canadian Forces’ top marksman award twice in a row.

RCAF Capt. Ken Barling, NORAD headquarters air combat systems officer, was awarded the Queen’s Medal for Champion Shot for the second year in a row at this year’s Canadian Forces Small Arms Concentration competition held Sept. 9 - 22 at Connaught Range in Ottawa, Ontario.

On Sunday, September 16, 2012, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) will mark the 72nd anniversary of the Battle of Britain with a memorial ceremony, parade and fly-past of vintage and current RCAF aircraft. The public is invited to attend the event from 10:15 a.m. to noon at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa.

On Saturday, September 29, 2012, the Ottawa Flying Club and the Ottawa Rotary Club are holding the 54th Annual Fly Day, a unique event that provides the public an opportunity to see Ottawa from above, in support of a local charitable organization.
