Air France is organizing a collection of old ground staff and crew uniforms at Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports. This new eco-friendly operation began on 21 January and runs until 15 March 2013. The uniforms collected from most of these staff concerned will then be recycled into car insulation at a specialized recycling plant.

Porter Airlines releases January statistics

Porter Airlines completed January with a traffic increase of 0.8 per cent, representing passenger growth of 1.2 per cent for the month. Capacity grew by 4.7 per cent, which resulted in a load factor of 53.6%, a decline of 2.1 points from last year.

WestJet today announced January 2013 traffic results with a record load factor of 80.9 per cent. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 7.7 per cent year over year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 6.4 per cent over the same period. The airline flew 1.5 million guests in January, a year-over-year increase of 6.4 per cent or approximately 87,500 additional guests.

Virgin America, the airline that is reinventing domestic travel and the only airline headquartered in the Bay Area, announces it will bring its low-fare, upscale service to Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) as of May 1, 2013, with tickets on sale February 5 for four daily roundtrip flights from SJC to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
